【摘要】:Thispracticeisapplicabletogalvanizedstructuresexposedtotheatmosphereortoplantenvironments,includingbuildings,bridges,andindustrialplantconstructions.Itprovidesforthecollectionofdatatodocumenttheprotectionaffordedbythegalvanizedcoating.MethodAforconductingacoatingthicknesssurveyaimsessentiallyatanassessmentofthegeneralconditionofthegalvanizedstructure,atthetimeoftheinspection,bytakingthicknessmeasurementsonseveralmembersofthestructure.MethodBprovidesforaccuratemonitoringofthecoatingthicknessdecreaseasafunctionoftime,atspecificlocationsonthestructure,inordertoassessthecorrosivityoftheenvironment,theeffectoforientation,elevation,orotherfactors.MethodBisnotanalternateproceduretoMethodA,butiscomplementaryandoptional.1.1Thispracticesetsforththeproceduresforconductingcasestudiesofgalvanizedinstallations.Itisintendedforstructuralmembersandotherpermanentpartsoftheinstallation,suchasrailingsandothersuchfabrications.1.2Includedinthispracticearerecommendationsforthevisualinspectionofthegalvanizedstructure,measurementofcoatingthickness,andreportingofresults.1.3Thisspecificationisapplicabletoordersineitherinch-poundunits(asA896)orinSIunits(asA896M).Inch-poundunitsandSIunitsarenotnecessarilyexactequivalents.Withinthetextofthisspecificationandwhereappropriate,SIunitsareshowninbrackets.Eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheotherwithoutcombiningvaluesinanyway.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
